There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Lady Cobras (6-4) edged 7th ranked Hawks (7-4) in Kilsyth 66-65 on Saturday. Lady Cobras forced 19 Hawks turnovers. The former international power forward Lauren Scherf (196-96) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds to lead the effort and swingman Georgia Booth (174-3) supported her with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Even a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds by guard Marena Whittle (180-94, college: NDSU, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for Hawks. Naturalized Turkish guard Funda Nakkasoglu (173-95, college: Florida) added 19 points for the guests. Four Hawks players scored in double figures. Lady Cobras maintains ninth position in League with 6-4 record. Loser Hawks dropped to the eighth place with four games lost. Lady Cobras will meet at home Diamond Valley Eagles (#17) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hawks will have a break next round.
