The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Flames' (6-6) road victory over 8th ranked Mavericks (2-11) in Mt. Barker 75-64 on Saturday. Guard Alex Wilson (174-94) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and Sophie Kerridge supported her with 17 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Even a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds by forward Mollie McKendrick (183-93, college: Boston U.) did not help to save the game for Mavericks. Kedeisha Kartinyeri added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Mavericks' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Flames moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Mavericks keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. Flames will meet at home league's leader Tigers in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Mavericks will play against Bearcats (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
