No shocking result in a game in Kalamunda where second ranked Eagles (9-4) won against 9th ranked Suns (4-8) 72-60 on Friday. Eagles dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Suns' 22. Eagles had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was New Zealand forward Mary Goulding (183-96, college: Fordham) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 17 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Opal Mader (-97) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Eagles' coach used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Ellyce Ironmonger (193-89, college: Oregon) who recorded 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and center Mia Jacobs (186-4) added 11 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Eagles maintains second place in League with 9-4 record having just three points less than leader Frankston B. Loser Suns dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. Eagles will meet Senators (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Suns will play against Magic and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
