Not a big story in a game in Runcorn where bottom-ranked Roar (0-9) was rolled over by tenth ranked Pirates (5-6) 93-54 on Saturday. Pirates dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Roar's 24. Pirates forced 22 Roar turnovers and outrebounded them 52-28 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was New Zealand forward Charmian Mellars (182-79) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Tylah King (183-97, college: Pacific) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Five Pirates players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Bride Kennedy-Hopoate (193-97, college: N.Mexico) who recorded 26 points and 9 rebounds and Jaylen Cooper added 5 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pirates moved-up to eighth place in League. Loser Roar still closes the standings with nine games lost. Pirates will meet at home higher ranked Rollers (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Roar will play against Wizards (#11) in Taigum and hopes to get finally their first victory.
