Regular Season Round 22: Mackay M. - Cairns M. 98-79

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Cairns Marlins (6-5) were outplayed on the road by third ranked Mackay Meteors (10-3) 98-79 on Saturday. The former international center Harrison Froling (211-98, college: Marquette) fired a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Jerron Jamerson (193, college: Goshen) chipped in 29 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Guard Anthony Fisher (187-94) produced 18 points and point guard Deba George (183-85) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mackay Meteors moved-up to second place in League. Loser Cairns Marlins dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Mackay Meteors will meet Rockets (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Cairns Marlins will play against Northside Wizards (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
