Not a big story in a game in Floreat where 11th ranked Suns (4-13) were outplayed by ninth ranked Hawks (8-9) 74-51 on Friday. Hawks dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Suns' 24. Hawks forced 23 Suns turnovers and outrebounded them 54-28 including a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Forward Megan McKay (190-97, college: St.Mary's, CA) scored 10 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and center Madeleine Dennis (186-97) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Hawks players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was power forward Ellyce Ironmonger (193-89, college: Oregon) with 8 points and 10 rebounds and guard Jewel Williams (168-1) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hawks moved-up to seventh place in League. Loser Suns keep the eleventh position with 13 games lost. Hawks will meet at home Senators (#8) in the next round. Suns will play against Eagles in Morley and hope to secure a win.
