There was a small surprise when Cairns Taipans defeated at home JackJumpers 69-62 on Saturday. Cairns Taipans forced 19 JackJumpers turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Tahjere McCall (193-94, college: Tennessee St.) who scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Naturalized Sudanese forward Kouat Noi (201-97, college: TCU) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. American point guard Josh Magette (185-89, college: UAH) produced 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international swingman Clint Steindl (200-89, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 13 points respectively for the guests. JackJumpers' coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Cairns Taipans will meet at home Adelaide 36ers in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. JackJumpers will play against Bullets in Brisbane and hope to win that game.
