There was no surprise in Gwynneville where 7th ranked Adelaide 36ers (3-5) were defeated by fourth ranked Illawarra Hawks (5-4) 100-89 on Monday. Illawarra Hawks looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Harrison Froling (211-98, college: Marquette) who scored 27 points and 9 rebounds. The former international power forward Samson Froling (212-0, college: Creighton) chipped in 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Illawarra Hawks players scored in double figures. The former international guard Sunday Dech (195-94, college: Barry) produced 20 points and the former international power forward Daniel Johnson (212-88, college: Pepperdine) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Illawarra Hawks maintains fourth position with 5-4 record. Loser Adelaide 36ers keep the seventh place with five games lost. Illawarra Hawks will meet Cairns Taipans (#8) on the road in the next round.
