Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Illawarra Hawks (10-7) defeated bottom-ranked New Zealand Breakers (4-11) in Auckland 102-87 on Tuesday. American guard Tyler Harvey (194-1993, college: EWU) nailed 19 points and 4 assists for the winning side and the former international power forward Samson Froling (212-2000, college: Creighton) accounted for 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Illawarra Hawks' coach Brian Goorjian used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. French point guard Hugo Besson (191-2001) came up with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Chasson Randle (188-1993, college: Stanford) added 15 points respectively for New Zealand Breakers in the defeat. Four Illawarra Hawks and five New Zealand Breakers players scored in double figures. Illawarra Hawks moved-up to third place, which they share with Sydney. Loser New Zealand Breakers stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Illawarra Hawks will meet at home league's leader United in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
