Very expected game in Sydney where 10th ranked Cairns Taipans (5-13) were defeated by third ranked Kings (13-7) 98-88 on Sunday. Kings made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Xavier Cooks (203-1995, college: Winthrop) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Jarell Martin (208-1994, college: LSU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Brazilian-American guard Scott Machado (185-1990, college: Iona) produced 26 points and 7 assists and American center Stephen Zimmerman (211-1996, college: UNLV) added 16 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Five Kings and four Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Kings have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-7 record having just two points less than leader Melbourne. Cairns Taipans lost fifth consecutive game.
