The most exciting game of round 16 in the WNBL took place in Dandenong. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 7th ranked Southside Flyers (3-11) to eighth ranked Sydney Uni Flames (4-11) 68-66 in the game for the seventh place. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Keely Froling (188-1996, college: SMU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and New Zealand forward Kalani Purcell (188-1995, college: BYU) who added 12 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side the former international Jenna OHea (186-1987) responded with 19 points and the former international point guard Maddison Rocci (169-1998) scored 13 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sydney Uni Flames have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place. Southside Flyers lost seventh consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the bottom position with 11 games lost. Sydney Uni Flames are looking forward to face league's second-placed Boomers in Melbourne in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Southside Flyers will play at home against Adelaide Lightning (#3) and are hoping to win this game.
