Regular Season Round 15: NZL Breakers - Perth 102-104

Ninth-ranked New Zealand Breakers (5-14) made lots of trouble for second ranked Perth Wildcats (13-6) in Auckland. The visitors from Perth managed to secure only two-point victory 104-102. However their fans expected much easier game. Perth Wildcats dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to New Zealand Breakers' 40. Perth Wildcats players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. New Zealand Breakers were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American guard Bryce Cotton (182-1992, college: Providence, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory with 32 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. His fellow American import forward Victor Law (201-1995, college: Northwestern, agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with 39 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winners. New Zealand forward Yannick Wetzell (208-1996, college: SDSU) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 18 rebounds and French point guard Hugo Besson (191-2001) added 23 points and 4 assists in the effort for New Zealand Breakers. Four Perth Wildcats and five New Zealand Breakers players scored in double figures. New Zealand Breakers' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Perth Wildcats. They maintain second place with 13-6 record behind leader Melbourne. New Zealand Breakers at the other side keep the ninth position with 14 games lost. Perth Wildcats will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. New Zealand Breakers will play again on the road against the league's second-placed Perth Wildcats (#2) and hope to get back on the winning track.
