The most exciting game of round 16 in the NBL took place in Melbourne. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Melbourne Phoenix (11-8) to third ranked Kings (13-7) 91-89 on Saturday evening. Kings made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jarell Martin (208-1994, college: LSU) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). The other American import point guard Jaylen Adams (188-1996, college: St.Bonaventure) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. American guard Xavier Munford (193-1992, college: URI) replied with 26 points and 5 assists and the former international swingman Mitch Creek (196-1992) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Melbourne Phoenix. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Kings have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-7 record having just two points less than leader Melbourne. Melbourne Phoenix lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with eight games lost. Kings are looking forward to face league's second-placed Perth Wildcats on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Melbourne Phoenix will play again against Kings and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
