Very important is a road loss of third ranked Perth Lynx (10-5) against sixth ranked Townsville Fire (7-10) on Sunday night. Visiting Perth Lynx was defeated by Townsville Fire in a tough game in Townsville 69-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Perth Lynx. Townsville Fire made 19-of-21 charity shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Guard Stephanie Reid (168-1996, college: Buffalo) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international forward Zitina Aokuso (194-1998) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Five Townsville Fire players scored in double figures. American point guard Jackie Young (183-1997, college: Notre Dame) answered with 26 points and 5 rebounds and the former international guard Samantha Whitcomb (178-1988, college: Washington) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Perth Lynx. Perth Lynx's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Townsville Fire maintains sixth place with 7-10 record. Perth Lynx at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Townsville Fire will play against league's leader Boomers in Melbourne in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Perth Lynx will play on the road against Bendigo Spirit and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
