Cougars (3-1) recorded a loss in McKinnon. Hosts were defeated by Devils (4-0) 112-99. Devils made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American point guard Maurice Howard (185-1997, college: Alcorn St., agency: Green Sports Management) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import forward Kavione Green (195, college: Bloomfield) helped adding 25 points and 9 rebounds. Howard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Devils players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Sharif Black (185-1996, college: Bemidji St.) with 33 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and guard Mitchell Barry (190, college: HPU) scored 22 points. Cougars' coach tested eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Devils will play against Camberwell (#4) in Melbourne in the next round. Cougars will play on the road against Steelers in Western Port and hope to get back on the winning track.
