We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when Hume City Broncos (1-3) lost to Vikings (1-2) in Melbourne 77-91 on Sunday. Vikings looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward DMonte Evans (190, college: Bluefield) who led the winners and scored 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import guard Denzel Brito (185-1991, college: Loyola, MD) accounted for 21 points and 12 assists for the winning side. Vikings' coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Naturalized South Sudanese forward Makuei Puondak (203-1994, college: UT Southern) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and American point guard Christopher Elder (180-1989, college: St.Francis, IL) added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Hume City Broncos in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vikings' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Melbourne to the arena Gulls.
