The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Suns' (0-1) home loss to top-ranked Redbacks (2-0) 52-85 on Friday. Power forward Benjamin Smith (204-1988, college: CUI) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Tevin Jackson (202-1994, college: McNeese St.) chipped in 26 points and 7 rebounds. New Zealand Xavier Shaw (203-1992, college: MSU-Northern) produced 11 points and 9 rebounds and forward Tom Atkinson (198-1998) added 6 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Redbacks moved-up to second place in League. Loser Suns still closes the standings with one game lost. Redbacks will meet at home Slammers (#14) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Suns will have a break next round.
