Everything could happen in Floreat at the game between two tied teams. Both top-ranked Hawks and bottom-ranked Senators had identical 0-0 record. This time Hawks used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Perth 93-91 on Friday night. Hawks looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Guard Matthew Leary (190-2000, college: Knox) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Center Andrew Ferguson (213-1998, college: CS Monterey) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Five Hawks players scored in double figures. American swingman Bryan Michaels (190-1996, college: Concordia, OR) produced 37 points (!!!) and 5 assists and forward Caleb Davis (206-1995, college: SVSU) added 26 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hawks (1-0) left bottom position moving up to sixth place in League. Loser Senators still closes the standings with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
