Regular Season Round 19: Tasmania JJ - Cairns 87-80

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked JackJumpers (14-11) defeated 8th ranked Cairns Taipans (7-15) in Hobart 87-80 on Friday. JackJumpers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Jack McVeigh (203-1996, college: Nebraska) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. American point guard Josh Magette (185-1989, college: UAH) accounted for 13 points and 7 assists for the winning side. Power forward Keanu Pinder (205-1995, college: Arizona) came up with 13 points and 9 rebounds and the former international power forward Nathan Jawai (209-1986, college: Midland CC) added 17 points respectively for Cairns Taipans in the defeat. Four JackJumpers and five Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted JackJumpers maintains fifth place with 14-11 record. Loser Cairns Taipans keep the eighth position with 15 games lost. JackJumpers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cairns Taipans will play against the league's second-placed Illawarra Hawks (#2) and hope to secure a win.
