Very expected game when 10th ranked New Zealand Breakers (5-19) lost to sixth ranked Melbourne Phoenix (12-12) in Auckland 89-99 on Sunday. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Xavier Munford (193-1992, college: URI) who led the winners and scored 25 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Chinese center Qi Zhou (217-1996) accounted for 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winning side. Melbourne Phoenix's coach Simon Mitchell used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. French swingman Ousmane Dieng (201-2003) came up with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and New Zealand-Irish forward Finn Delany (198-1995, college: SW Baptist) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for New Zealand Breakers in the defeat.
