Regular Season Round 7: Eastern Suns - Joondalup W. 59-87
Date: April 14, 2022
Everything went according to plan in Kalamunda where leader Wanneroo (3-0) outleveled 5th ranked Suns (1-2) 87-59 on Thursday. Wanneroo dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Suns' 22. They outrebounded Suns 52-36 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Wanneroo looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Suns' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Wanneroo made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for forward Teige Morrell who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Neseya Parker-williams helped adding 16 points and 15 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). At the losing side guard Georgia Denehey (-1999) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Cypriot point guard Marissa Pangalos (170-1995) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Wanneroo maintains first place in League with 3-0 record. Loser Suns dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
