There was a surprise result in Northbridge where ninth ranked Senators (1-1) smashed higher ranked Redbacks (2-1) 97-72 on Thursday. Senators forced 22 Redbacks turnovers. Forward Caleb Davis (206-1995, college: SVSU) scored 25 points and 8 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Cody Ellis (202-1990, college: St.Louis) chipped in 23 points and 4 steals during the contest. Four Senators players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Jerami Grace (190-1994, college: Langston) with 20 points and swingman Tevin Jackson (202-1994, college: McNeese St.) scored 18 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Senators left bottom position moving up to eighth place in League. Loser Redbacks dropped to the sixth position with one game lost. Senators will meet at home Suns (#11) in the next round. Redbacks will play against Magic (#9) and hope to secure a win.
