There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Cairns Taipans (9-19) beat at home 7th ranked Bullets (10-18) 112-98 on Saturday. Cairns Taipans forced 20 Bullets turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Tahjere McCall (193-1994, college: Tennessee St.) who had a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!), 10 assists and 4 steals. South Sudanese forward Majok Deng (205-1993, college: ULM) chipped in 30 points and 6 rebounds. Cairns Taipans' coach Adam Forde used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Robert Franks (203-1996, college: WSU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds and the former international swingman Anthony Drmic (198-1992, college: Boise St.) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists respectively. Five Bullets players scored in double figures. Cairns Taipans maintains ninth place with 9-19 record. Bullets at the other side keep the seventh position with 18 games lost. They share it with Adelaide.
