Regular Season Round 7: Keilor T. - Bendigo LB 64-86
Date: April 23, 2022
Not a big story in a game in Melbourne where bottom-ranked Thunder (0-1) was outplayed by second ranked Lady Braves (1-1) 86-64 on Saturday. Lady Braves dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Thunder's 30. They outrebounded Thunder 42-23 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lady Braves looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for forward Megan McKay (190-1997, college: St.Mary's, CA) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds (on 14-of-15 shooting from the field). The former international guard Kelly Wilson (170-1984) helped adding 19 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Lady Braves players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Monique Andriuolo (185-1998, college: Pepperdine) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds and the former international guard Madeleine Garrick (178-1992) scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite that victory Lady Braves went down to tenth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Thunder still closes the standings with one game lost. Lady Braves will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Thunder will play against Tornadoes (#5) in Launceston and hopes to get finally their first victory.
