Regular Season Round 21: NZL Breakers - Adelaide 60-93
Date: April 24, 2022
There was no surprise in Auckland where 10th ranked New Zealand Breakers (5-23) were outplayed by eighth ranked Adelaide 36ers (10-18) 93-60 on Sunday. Adelaide 36ers dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to New Zealand Breakers' 26. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Adelaide 36ers made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Sunday Dech (195-1994, college: Barry) who scored 19 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American swingman Todd Withers (202-1996, college: Queens, NC) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Adelaide 36ers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was New Zealand forward Robert Loe (211-1991, college: St.Louis) who recorded 9 points and 10 rebounds and New Zealand-Irish forward Finn Delany (198-1995, college: SW Baptist) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Adelaide 36ers moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Brisbane. New Zealand Breakers lost tenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 23 lost games.
