There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Hunters (2-1) edged 8th ranked Canberra Gunners (3-2) in Broadmeadow 68-65 on Sunday. Hunters dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Canberra Gunners' 28. The winners were led by forward Myles Cherry (203-1998, college: Lafayette) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Matur Maluach (196, college: UNB) supported him with 20 points. Even a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds by center Glenn Morison (208, college: St.Edward's) did not help to save the game for Canberra Gunners. William Mayfield added 15 points. Four Canberra Gunners players scored in double figures. Canberra Gunners' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Hunters moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Canberra Gunners dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Hunters will meet at home Crusaders (#8) in the next round. Canberra Gunners will play against Hills Hornets (#11) and hope to secure a win.
