No shocking result in a game when top-ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (4-0) defeated on the road 11th ranked Dandenong Rangers (1-3) 99-89 on Sunday. Strangely Dandenong Rangers outrebounded Mount Gambier Pioneers 49-37 including a 23-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Forward Nick Marshall (196-1999, college: Clarke) had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Tom Kubank (201, college: Mary) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Mount Gambier Pioneers players scored in double figures. New Zealand forward Dyson King-Hawea (200-1992) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds and American guard Jacob Davison (193-1997, college: Cal Poly) scored 26 points. Mount Gambier Pioneers moved-up to second place in League. Loser Dandenong Rangers dropped to the thirteenth position with three games lost. Mount Gambier Pioneers will meet Ringwood Hawks (#4) in the next round. Dandenong Rangers will play against NW Tasmania Thunder (#7) and hope to win that game.
