There was a small surprise in Launceston where fifth ranked Tornadoes (5-1) won against 3rd placed Hawks (5-2) 90-82 on Saturday. They outrebounded Hawks 36-25 including 22 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Keely Froling (188-1996, college: SMU) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds. The former international power forward Kelsey Griffin (188-1987, college: Nebraska) chipped in a double-double by scoring 28 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Latvian forward Digna Strautmane (188-1998, college: Georgia Tech) who recorded 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Marena Whittle (180-1994, college: NDSU, agency: LBM Management) added 25 points respectively. Five Hawks players scored in double figures. Tornadoes moved-up to third place in League. Loser Hawks dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
