Regular Season Round 18: Keilor T. - Dandenong R. 77-80
Date: May 21, 2022
Everything could happen in Melbourne at the game between two tied teams. Both thirteenth ranked Dandenong Rangers and 16th ranked Thunder had identical 1-5 record. But Thunder was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Dandenong 80-77 on Saturday night. Dandenong Rangers outrebounded Thunder 46-34 including a 22-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. New Zealand forward Dyson King-Hawea (200-1992) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Jacob Davison (193-1997, college: Cal Poly) supported him with 18 points. Five Dandenong Rangers players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 20 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists by American forward Jacob Lampkin (206, college: Alaska-Anch.) did not help to save the game for Thunder. His fellow American import forward Tyler Kidd (196, college: Ohio Northern) added 12 points and 5 assists. Thunder's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Dandenong Rangers went down to fourteenth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Thunder dropped to the eighteenth place with six games lost. Dandenong Rangers will meet higher ranked Kilsyth Cobras (#7) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Thunder will play against Spectres (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
