Regular Season Round 21: Waverley F. - Keilor T. 77-74
Date: May 29, 2022
No shocking result in a game in Mount Waverley where sixth ranked Waverley Falcons (6-2) edged 18th ranked Thunder (1-8) 77-74 on Sunday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Waverley Falcons made 27-of-31 free shots (87.1 percent) during the game, while Thunder only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Thunder 51-26 including a 24-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Waverley Falcons made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was forward Tristan Forsyth (208, college: CBU) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 18 rebounds. Guard Dexter Kernich-Drew (199-1991, college: WSU) chipped in 28 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Tyler Kidd (196, college: Ohio Northern) who recorded 24 points and 4 assists and power forward Cirkook Riak (203-1992, college: Lamar St.CC) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Four Thunder players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Waverley Falcons moved-up to third place in League. Loser Thunder keeps the eighteenth position with eight games lost. Waverley Falcons will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Thunder's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Melbourne Tigers.
