Regular Season Round 23: Rockhampton - Townsville F. 93-79

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Flames (6-3) lost to eighth ranked Cyclones (5-5) in Rockhampton 79-93 on Saturday. Cyclones looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was an exceptional evening for center Lara McSpadden (193-1999) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Annaliese Watkinson (175, college: Mt.St.Mary's) accounted for 28 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Five Cyclones players scored in double figures. Cyclones' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Courtney Woods (183-1997, college: NIU) came up with 31 points and 5 rebounds and guard Stephanie Reid (168-1996, college: Buffalo) added 24 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Flames in the defeat. Cyclones maintains eighth place in League with 5-5 record. Loser Flames dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
