Not a big story in a game in Wantirna South where 10th ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (5-5) were defeated by seventh ranked Knox Raiders (7-5) 89-84 on Saturday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Knox Raiders made 7 blocks. Forward Simon Grant (195-1991) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Adam Gibson (188-1986) chipped in 16 points during the contest. Naturalized Canadian guard Dejan Vasiljevic (190-1997, college: Miami, FL) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and forward Joel Capetola (194-2001) scored 18 points. Four Knox Raiders and five Diamond Valley Eagles players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Knox Raiders moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Diamond Valley Eagles dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Knox Raiders will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Diamond Valley Eagles will play against Geelong Supercats (#7) and hope to secure a win.
