There was a minor upset in Gawler where 7th ranked West Adelaide Bearcats (3-7) were crushed by ninth ranked Central District Lions (2-8) 87-60 on Saturday. Central District Lions forced 23 West Adelaide Bearcats turnovers and outrebounded them 48-33 including 37 on the defensive glass. American point guard Bijan Johnson (183-1997, college: NM Military) scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import swingman Branden Jenkins (196-1994, college: TxWes) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Worth to mention Jenkins played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Nikolas Desantis responded with 17 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and American guard Nate Sheppard (198, college: Malone) scored 13 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Central District Lions maintains ninth position in League with 2-8 record. Loser West Adelaide Bearcats keep the seventh place with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
