Regular Season Round 28: Newcastle F. - Illawarra H. 101-57

There was a minor upset in Newcastle where 4th ranked Hawks (9-4) were crushed by sixth ranked Hunters (7-4) 101-57 on Saturday. Hunters forced 19 Hawks turnovers and outrebounded them 49-35 including 18 on the offensive glass. Center Chyra Evans (191-2003) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. American guard Nicole Munger (180-1997, college: Michigan) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Hunters players scored in double figures. Hunters' coach felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Georgia Ohrdorf (183-1995, college: MSU Denver) produced 20 points and Rebecca Abel added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Hunters maintains sixth position in League with 7-4 record. Loser Hawks keep the fourth place with four games lost. Hunters will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hawks will play against Mustangs (#10) in Maitland and hope to secure a win.
