We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Brisbane where 13th ranked South West Metro Pirates (4-8) were outplayed by fourteenth ranked Roar (4-8) 102-78 on Friday. Roar dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to South West Metro Pirates' 38 and made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Roar looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Spencer Parker (201-1993, college: BGSU, agency: Inception Sports) who scored 30 points. Forward Kane Bishop (192-1997) chipped in 8 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks. Four Roar players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Brendan Teys (188-1990) who recorded 24 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized New Zealand swingman Zac Carter (203-1989) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Roar moved-up to thirteenth place in League. Roar will meet higher ranked Rip City (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. South West Metro Pirates will have a break next round.
