Regular Season Round 38: SD Spartans - SW Metro P. 102-71
Date: July 17, 2022
There was a small surprise when sixteenth ranked Brisbane Spartans (3-12) rolled over at home 13th ranked South West Metro Pirates (4-10) 102-71 on Sunday. Brisbane Spartans made 24-of-24 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. They also forced 23 South West Metro Pirates turnovers. Brisbane Spartans looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Jalen Canty (203-1995, college: UCSB, agency: Haylett Sports) notched 30 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and center Ngor Nai (208, college: Baton Rouge) supported him with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Five Brisbane Spartans players scored in double figures. Even 9 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists by Brandon Edwards did not help to save the game for South West Metro Pirates. Guard Brendan Teys (188-1990) added 18 points for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Brisbane Spartans maintains sixteenth position in League with 3-12 record. Loser South West Metro Pirates keep the thirteenth place with ten games lost. Brisbane Spartans will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. South West Metro Pirates will play against Rip City (#5) and hope to secure a win.
