Regular Season Round 40: Ringwood H. - Sandringham S. 81-82

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Sabres (12-6) edged 11th ranked Ringwood Hawks (9-10) in Heathmont 82-81 on Sunday. The winners were led by New Zealand guard Shea Ili (184-1992) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals and the former international forward David Barlow (205-1983, college: MSU Denver) supported him with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Even 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard Tim Guers (190-1996, college: St.Anselm) did not help to save the game for Ringwood Hawks. Forward Matthew Fennell (196) added 18 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ringwood Hawks' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Sabres maintains fifth position in League with 12-6 record. Loser Ringwood Hawks dropped to the thirteenth place with ten games lost. Sabres will meet at home Thunder (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ringwood Hawks will play against Frankston Blues and hope to secure a win.
