Regular Season Round 39: Waverley F. - Ringwood H. 55-91
Date: August 7, 2022
Rather predictable result in Mount Waverley where second ranked Hawks (18-3) outscored 5th ranked Falcons (13-7) 91-55 on Sunday. Hawks had a 35-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hawks made 9 blocks. It was a great evening for guard Marena Whittle (180-1994, college: NDSU, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Latvian forward Digna Strautmane (188-1998, college: Georgia Tech) helped adding 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks. The best for the losing side was power forward Carley Ernst (196-1994) with 15 points and 9 rebounds and forward Renae Mokrzycki (183-1994, college: Idaho) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hawks maintains second place in League with 18-3 record behind leader Bendigo LB. Loser Falcons dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Hawks will meet at home Knox Raiders (#5) in the next round. Falcons will play against Rangers in Dandenong and hope to secure a win.
