Very predictable result in Wollongong where third ranked Hawks (13-7) smashed 9th ranked Bandits (8-13) 113-84 on Sunday. Hawks dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Bandits' 30. Hawks forced 22 Bandits turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Kiwi Gardner (170-1993, college: Providence) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 9 rebounds, 11 assists and 5 steals. Forward Harry Morris (198-2002) chipped in 40 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Four Hawks players scored in double figures. Guard Lochlan Cummings (189-1995, college: HIU) produced 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and naturalized Swiss center Hamish Warden (203-1999, college: NDC) added 23 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hawks moved-up to second place in League. Loser Bandits keep the ninth position with 13 games lost. Hawks will meet Sutherland Sharks (#6) on the road in the next round. Bandits will play against Hills Hornets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
