Very expected game in Melbourne where 20th ranked Tigers (3-17) were rolled over by tenth ranked Ballarat Rush (12-8) 85-59 on Sunday. Ballarat Rush forced 25 Tigers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Jade Melbourne (176-2002, college: Arizona St.) who led her team to a victory scoring 25 points and 8 rebounds. The former international forward Zitina Aokuso (194-1998) helped adding 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Ballarat Rush players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Jessica Tomkins with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and Lily Carmody scored 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Tigers' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Ballarat Rush moved-up to ninth place in League. Loser Tigers keep the twentieth position with 17 games lost. Ballarat Rush will meet higher ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tigers will play against Spectres (#6) in East Burwood and hope to secure a win.
