Regular Season Round 1: Illawarra - Sydney 97-106

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Illawarra Hawks in Gwynneville on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Kings 106-97. 25 personal fouls committed by Illawarra Hawks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Derrick Walton Jr. (185-1995, college: Michigan) fired 32 points and 8 assists for the winners. His fellow American import Justin Simon (196-1996, college: St.John's) chipped in 19 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Lachlan Dent (184-2000) produced 19 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and American guard Justin Robinson (188-1995, college: Virginia Tech) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kings is looking forward to face United in Melbourne in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Illawarra Hawks will play on the road against Perth Wildcats and are hoping to win this game.
