Regular Season Round 5: SE Melbourne - Adelaide 103-98
Date: October 30, 2022
Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Adelaide 36ers (2-3) lost on the road to fourth ranked Melbourne Phoenix (5-3) 103-98 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Melbourne Phoenix made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Syrian-American guard George Kell III (193-1996, college: SDSU, agency: Slash Sports) nailed 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and the former international swingman Mitch Creek (196-1992) accounted for 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Melbourne Phoenix players scored in double figures. American guard Craig Randall II (193-1996, college: UT Martin) came up with 28 points and the former international power forward Daniel Johnson (212-1988, college: Pepperdine) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Adelaide 36ers in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Melbourne Phoenix have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Loser Adelaide 36ers keep the eighth position with three games lost. Melbourne Phoenix's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Melbourne to the arena United.
