Regular Season Round 5: NZL Breakers - Tasmania JJ 94-62

Date: October 30, 2022
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked New Zealand Breakers as it allowed them to take a leadership position. New Zealand Breakers smashed 5th ranked JackJumpers in Auckland 94-62. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of JackJumpers. New Zealand Breakers made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded JackJumpers 44-32 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American center Derek Pardon (203-1996, college: Northwestern) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. His fellow American import Barry Brown Jr (190-1996, college: Kansas St.) contributed with 24 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five New Zealand Breakers players scored in double figures. American Milton Doyle (193-1993, college: Loyola, IL) answered with 22 points and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Jack McVeigh (203-1996, college: Nebraska) added 11 points in the effort for JackJumpers. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. New Zealand Breakers have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Sydney. JackJumpers at the other side keep the fifth place with four games lost. They share the position with Melbourne. JackJumpers will play next round against Bullets trying to get back on the winning streak. New Zealand Breakers will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Kings in Sydney.
