Regular Season Round 6: Illawarra - Adelaide 80-96
Date: November 3, 2022
Rather expected game in Gwynneville where 10th ranked Illawarra Hawks (1-8) were defeated by seventh ranked Adelaide 36ers (3-4) 96-80 on Thursday. Adelaide 36ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Daniel Johnson (212-1988, college: Pepperdine) who scored 28 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). American forward Robert Franks (201-1996, college: WSU) chipped in 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Tyler Harvey (194-1993, college: EWU) who recorded 25 points and his fellow American import guard Peyton Siva (183-1990, college: Louisville) added 11 points and 10 assists respectively. Five Adelaide 36ers and four Illawarra Hawks players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Adelaide 36ers went down to eighth position due to points difference. Illawarra Hawks lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with eight games lost. Adelaide 36ers will meet league's second-placed New Zealand Breakers in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Illawarra Hawks will play against the league's leader Kings (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
