Regular Season Round 1: Canberra - Bendigo 85-105

The game in Canberra supposed to be also quite interesting. Bendigo Spirit played at the court of Canberra Capitals. Bendigo Spirit did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 105-85 on Friday. It was a great shooting night for Bendigo Spirit especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Canberra Capitals' players. The former international power forward Kelsey Griffin (188-1987, college: Nebraska) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and the former international guard Abigail Wehrung (177-1995) accounted for 19 points and 5 assists. American forward Dekeiya Cohen (188-1996, college: Baylor) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and New Zealand guard Shanice Swain (165-1993) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Canberra Capitals in the defeat. Four Bendigo Spirit and five Canberra Capitals players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bendigo Spirit will meet at home Sydney Flames in the next round. Canberra Capitals will play against Perth Lynx and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
