Very expected game in Brisbane where 9th ranked Bullets (3-6) were defeated by fourth ranked Cairns Taipans (6-3) 90-82 on Saturday. Cairns Taipans looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Keanu Pinder (205-1995, college: Arizona) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward DJ Hogg (203-1996, college: Texas A&M) helped adding 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Tyler Johnson (193-1992, college: Fresno St.) responded with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward DJ Mitchell (203-1997, college: Santa Clara) scored 21 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Cairns Taipans moved-up to third place. Loser Bullets keep the ninth position with six games lost. Cairns Taipans will meet at home league's leader Kings in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bullets will play against the league's second-placed New Zealand Breakers (#2) in Auckland and hope to secure a win.
