Regular Season Round 7: NZL Breakers - Adelaide 89-83
Date: November 20, 2022
Very predictable result in Auckland where second ranked New Zealand Breakers (8-3) beat 8th ranked Adelaide 36ers (4-5) 89-83 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It was a great evening for American center Derek Pardon (203-1996, college: Northwestern) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). His fellow American import Barry Brown Jr (190-1996, college: Kansas St.) helped adding 22 points. Four New Zealand Breakers players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Antonius Cleveland (196-1994, college: SEMO) responded with 17 points and 6 assists and the former international guard Mitchell McCarron (189-1992, college: MSU Denver) scored 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Adelaide 36ers' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. New Zealand Breakers maintains second place with 8-3 record having just one point less than leader Sydney. Loser Adelaide 36ers keep the eighth position with five games lost. New Zealand Breakers will meet at home Bullets (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Adelaide 36ers will play against Perth Wildcats and hope to secure a win.
