The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Kings as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Kings edged 10th ranked Illawarra Hawks in Sydney 83-82. American guard Derrick Walton Jr (185-1995, college: Michigan) fired 12 points and 7 assists for the winners. The former international guard Angus Glover (192-1998) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Kings players scored in double figures. American guard Tyler Harvey (194-1993, college: EWU) produced 32 points and 5 rebounds and the former international power forward Samson Froling (212-2000, college: Creighton) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Kings have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Illawarra Hawks lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with nine games lost. Illawarra Hawks will play next round against strong Melbourne Phoenix trying to get back on the winning streak. Kings will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Cairns Taipans on the road.
