No shocking result in a game when second ranked Boomers (7-1) smashed on the road 5th ranked Adelaide Lightning (3-5) 89-64 on Sunday. Boomers looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The former international center Cayla George (193-1989) had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Olivia Nelson-Ododa (196-2000, college: UConn) chipped in 20 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four Boomers players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Stephanie Talbot (188-1994) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Kierstan Bell (185-2000, college: FGCU) scored 16 points. Adelaide Lightning's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Boomers have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 7-1 record having just one point less than leader Bendigo. Loser Adelaide Lightning keeps the fifth place with five games lost. Boomers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Adelaide Lightning will play again against the league's second-placed Boomers (#2) in Melbourne and hope to secure a win.
