The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Boomers as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Boomers defeated 5th ranked Adelaide Lightning in Melbourne 106-100. Boomers made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Cayla George (193-1989) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Guard Mia Murray (185-1988) contributed with 34 points (!!!) for the winners. The former international swingman Stephanie Talbot (188-1994) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and the former international guard Lauren Mansfield (170-1989, college: Iowa St.) added 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Adelaide Lightning. Four Boomers and five Adelaide Lightning players scored in double figures. Boomers (8-1) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Adelaide Lightning lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with six games lost. Adelaide Lightning will play next round against Perth Lynx trying to get back on the winning streak. Boomers will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Townsville Fire on the road.
